Alba standing at a wooden railing, with a green alpine valley behind her

Hallo! Or should I say hola?

My name is Alba. I come from Spain, and I have been learning German since 2016. It has been a rollercoaster since then, as I have tried many different ways of learning the language: from group courses to private lessons with online tutors to exploring real German media and living in Germany and Switzerland for a while.

It has now been ten years since I started, and I thought it would be nice to have a site that makes it easy for me to keep going. You probably know this too: German is hard to learn without the discipline to keep at it.

German is not the first language I have tried to learn. I have also tried French, Korean, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Tagalog and Chinese, but German is the only one I stuck with. I think that is because I love the language and how it sounds, and because I have a personal connection with it, it helped me out of a bad state of mind in the past, and I really don't want to quit and forget everything I have learnt.

In 2025 I passed the Goethe B2 exam, and I am currently taking C1 classes and having weekly private lessons, but they really aren't enough. So I went ahead and created this app as a way to help myself. A daily habit app für meinen inneren Schweinehund, and maybe for yours too. An app that opens the door to reading about things I might not be interested in, discovering artists I have never heard of, finding out about some cool series, or simply getting a feel for how Germans see the world.

Beautiful songs :)

Why "die Siebte"

Monday is day one, and the week goes round the ring. Sunday is the seventh task of the week (die Siebte). Do one small German task each day, and on the seventh the week is won, which means nothing more than the joy of knowing that you have spent at least some time learning German this week.
